Hey Everyone, I’m Debbie Dunlop, and I’m super excited to join the Equine Insurance Shop Team! After a very successful 30 year career in the San Diego area, I retired from business in order to join my husband in his dream to return to his hometown, Spokane. I spent the next three years overseeing the building of and settling into our new home on beautiful Peone Prairie, at the base of Mt. Spokane. After this time though, I found I really miss my interaction with the public, so after much consideration, I decided I wanted to get back to doing what I am passionate about, and that is meeting folks and partnering with them to make sure they have the best insurance program possible.
I came to work at Buck & Affiliates Insurance West over a year ago and have been familiarizing myself with the capabilities of the agency and the needs of the insured’s in our area. In that year I discovered that so many people in the area share the same passion for horses that I have. As I was trying to find which direction in insurance I wanted to head, I kept feeling a pull towards equine insurance and really enjoyed the opportunities to work with Equine professionals as the opportunities arose. That brought me to last week, when I decided to take the opportunity to work for Buck & Affiliates Equine Insurance Shop side of the business so I can share in my passion of horses with all of their customers. I’m so excited to start working with all of you!
I’ve been a horse owner for nearly three-quarters of my life. Presently our little ranch on the Prairie is home to Leroy, a tri-colored Missouri Foxtrotter; Dakota, a spotted Amber-Champagne Tennessee Walker; and Cherokee, a beautiful Spanish Barb sorrel Mustang. We are also baby-sitting my sister-in-law’s five mini horses! Along with the dogs, cats, fish, and blue and gold Macaw, it is a bustling place of activity.
We’ve had wonderful opportunities to get involved in our local community, diving into SCOPE (Spokane Community Organized Policing Effort) in the Mounted Patrol Unit, joining The Spokane Entertainer’s Guild, where my husband & I are in charge of Equestrian Games, starting a Neighborhood Watch Program in our valley, and becoming active in our local church.
My background as a CIC (Certified Insurance Counselor) indicates that I have pursued knowing the insurance products that are available and are best suited for each family or business. Last October I completed my last class to finish out five years of study for my CRM (Certified Risk Manager). With this coveted designation, I am able to pass on the ideas of Risk Management, which are successfully identifying potential losses, analyzing those risk to decide how to control them, thru reducing the risk or financing them (possibly through insurance), and continuing to review these risks to make sure our program works from year to year.
Building trust is key to any good relationship, and with my education, expertise, and attention to detail, combined with my love for working with people and solving problems, I hope that trust is indeed built. With years of my own horse-ownership, I know the needs for us special folks who call our animals ‘friend’. It’s not about just selling insurance… it is about a life-long ‘partnership’ to help your family, your ranch, and your business succeed!
Congratulations Dusty on expanding your team there. Welcome Debbie, you sound like a great addition. Thank you guys for all that you did for me.
